Rehabilitation Equipment

Bilateral Pulley System, Mechanical

A fully mechanical system that links both limbs through pulleys and ropes. It is used in rehabilitation training or selected surgical settings to transfer force and coordinate movement between the two sides.

Departments

Rehabilitation Medicine, Physical Therapy, Orthopedics (postoperative recovery), and Burn Care (support for surgical positioning).

Core Function Highlights
  • Bilateral Coordinated TrainingThe pulley-and-rope assembly links the left and right limbs, allowing the stronger side to assist the affected side or both sides to exert force together.
  • Partial Weight Support and Positioning AssistanceA suspension system can provide partial body-weight support during gait training. In selected surgical settings, an overhead pulley system may also assist with positioning and securing a patient, such as during burn surgery.
  • Adjustable Load and FeedbackThe system can provide adjustable resistance through counterweights or damping cylinders.
